I joined the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as a graduate straight out of University. There I worked in a variety of roles within the financial markets department. This gave me a broad understanding of the New Zealand economy and markets. After 4 years I went to London where I worked for Manulife Investment Management as an execution trader. This was a fast-paced role where I was directly involved in trading FX, bonds, shares and derivatives. I also spent 4 years there before deciding to return to NZ.
After a few years focusing mainly on short-term trading, I wanted to transition into a role that was more about the long term. Building long-term relationships to help clients achieve their goals is now what I’m working towards, and I expect this to be hugely rewarding.
In my time in markets I’ve learned the importance of having a strategy, being patient and letting time work to your advantage. These are key parts of the investment process here at Cambridge Partners.
There are a variety of skill sets and backgrounds to draw on here, and the work environment is very collaborative. I'm also really enjoying being part of a team of motivated people who are always looking to develop.
I am a big sports fan and used to be involved in many sports in my younger days. I still play golf when I can but spending time with my family is of more importance these days, as I have a very active young daughter.
