Jim originally joined Cambridge Partners (previously Bradley Nuttall) in 2006 after emigrating from the UK with his Kiwi wife and (at the time) young family.
He returned to the UK in 2012, but then re-joined the firm in 2018 after spending 6 years working in London.
Jim has a broad range of experience in advising private clients, consulting to large institutional pension funds and financial planning for international migrants. He is a qualified Actuary, Chartered Financial Analyst, as well as being a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow of the UK’s Personal Finance Society.
I’ve worked in finance and investments for over 25 years in New Zealand and overseas.
I started out in the pensions team at NPI after completing a Degree in Physics from Surrey University. I went on from there to become an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) in the UK before moving to New Zealand and joining Bradley Nuttall (which became later Cambridge Partners) in 2006.
I returned to the UK in 2012 where I worked for Willis Towers Watson as a Director and Senior Investment consultant where I provided advice to pension funds with assets with from $100 million to over $1 billion.
Ultimately, the pull of being back in New Zealand was too great and I re-joined the firm in 2018 after spending 6 years in London.
I work between the advisory and client support teams and enjoy our collaborative team environment. I get involved in a wide range of different projects and love the challenge of growing and developing a truly great investment and wealth management business.
I have a strong grounding in investment governance being a CFA Charterholder and having been a Director and Senior Investment Consulting in a large consulting firm. I also hold the certificate in Financial Risk Management (FRM) from the Global Asociation of Risk Professionals (GARP) and am a Chartered Enterprise Risk Management Actuary (CERA) so have a good understanding of managing business risk and general management.
I enjoy being part of our team – we all work hard for the best possible outcomes for our clients. We care about our clients and work together in supportive environment.
I live in North Canterbury and enjoy spending time with my teenage family as well as the recreational opportunities on our doorstep including trail running, mountain biking, kick boxing and swimming.
